  • Facebook post by Kelly: I am going to share several updates with you while I am connected to internet. I will send out a mass email as well.
  • DEBRIS CLEANUP: There will be three dumpsters delivered tomorrow for hurricane debris. You can put any type of hurricane related debris in them, including vegetative debris. If you have smaller pieces of metal, you can put that on the side of the road and the scrappers will get it. Please do not put regular trash in the dumpsters. They are for hurricane debris only. We can keep the cost down by not adding unnecessary weight.
  • You may remember Steven Shearhorn. He helped us with cleanup after Hurricane Ian. He will be back with his crew to help us with clean up beginning on Sunday or Monday. They will be walking through the park and moving debris to the side of the road so that it can be moved to the dumpsters. They will not remove material that is attached to your home. You will need to hire a someone to take care of that step for you. John Mussone is available to help with this. His number is 941-493-6300. It is important to move quicky on this step as we will not have the dumpsters indefinitely and removal of the debris could become your responsibility.
  • WATER: Water is back on for everyone. Please boil water that is being used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes. We will let you know when the boil water notice has been lifted.
  • POWER: Power has been restored to the front of the park. We do not know when it will be restored to the remaining homes. You can check your account on FPL.com. They have told us they are working on it and expect to have power restored to 95% of the county by October 17.
  • SEWER PLANT: The sewer plant did not sustain any damage, but it is running on generator power until electric is back up and running. Because of this, please limit your water usage.
  • CLUBHOUSE: The clubhouse is closed for now, but we should have everything opened up and ready to go in time for Bingo on Tuesday.
  • PHONES AND INTERNET: As of 3pm today, the office is still without phones and internet. It is a widespread problem and Xfinity is aware of it.
  • As always, it is inspiring to see the community come together to help their neighbors. JG is very lucky in many ways.

10/11/2024 4:00 PM
  • Facebook post by Kelly: The water is back in to the parks. Please boil water until further notice. All water being used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes should be boiled.
  • Because the sewer plant is running on generator power, please limit water usage.

10/10/2024 1:45 PM: OneCallNow Message
  • Hello, this morning I drove through the park. There is quite a bit of damage, but not to the extent of Hurricane Ian. You should have someone check on your home.
  • We currently do not have power, water or sewer. There is also no cell phone reception in Japanese Gardens. Englewood Water System is fully down and they're working to get it back as soon as possible. When the water does come back on there will be a boil water notice. The wastewater plant operator is checking on the system and we will have more information about that soon.
  • I will be in the office tomorrow (Friday) from 8 AM to 3 PM. If you need assistance, please stop by the office.
  • Please note I do not have cell phone reception unless I drive a few miles from my home. I will do my best to return calls as soon as possible. I cannot check on individual homes. Thank you.
10/10/2024 10:30 AM:
  • Message from Englewood Water District Customer Service:
Water and Wastewater systems are fully down at this time. Crews are working to restore service as quickly as possible. A precautionary boil water notice will be in effect for all Englewood Water District customers as water service is restored. Please conserve all water and sewer use until repairs are completed. Please stay off the roads so our crews can move safely throughout the area.

REMINDER REGARDING WATER AND SEWER USAGE:
  • (22 hrs ago) Englewood Water District has begun lowing the water distribution pressure to the EWD service area.  The pressure will remain lower until the storm passes.  Interruptions in both water and sewer services may occur.  Please limit water usage until further notice to reduce strain on our sewer system.  Storm surge and heavy rainfall will inundate the sewer system, making it difficult for wastewater to flow properly.
  • The status of the Park sewer system is unknown at this time. Please limit use of water and sewers.
10/10/2024 8:40 AM:
  • A copy of Facebook post by Kelly:
  • I’m sorry if I’m repeating info you already have.
  • Power is out. Cellular is down in my area (north port) so I am assuming it is in Venice too. I am able to connect through my husband’s work hotspot briefly.
  • I heard on the radio Venice got about 7.5 ft surge. I think most of JG is higher than that.
  • As soon as they say it’s safe to be back on the road, I will check on JG and make another report.
